People Against Landlord Abuse and Tenant Exploitation Harlem (PA’LANTE Harlem) assists residents living in Rent Stabilized and Federally subsidized buildings one-on-one and in small groups. PA’LANTE provides technical assistance, training and legal services, and connects residents to the government and nonprofit resources (much of which are underutilized) that enable them to remain in their homes, hold negligent landlords accountable for critical safety violations and ensure that the buildings in their neighborhood are safe, habitable homes. PA’LANTE Harlem also recognizes the urgent need to help develop the academic and social skills of children in the Harlem community.
PA’LANTE’s Programs include:
- Tenant Organizing and Leadership Development
- Mediation, Legal Services and Referrals
- PA’LANTE Kids: Stand & Deliver
- Housing Clinic
Tenants seeking assistance with their housing issue can call PA’LANTE’s Housing Clinic and make an appointment to meet one on one with a housing specialist. Appointments: Available Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays, 10 am- 6 pm.
