The Cathedral Church of Saint John the Divine’s Cathedral Community Cares (CCC) initiative aims to “combat and alleviate poverty through preventative poverty services, education and and advocacy-specifically targeting the issues of health and hunger.” The program aims to address the needs of the underserved as well as tackle policy solutions in the long run to create a greater community and be a better aid to its clients.The Center’s Clothing Closet distributes emergency clothing and professional clothing for those seeking to enter the workforce. The Clothing Closet hours are Tuesdays and Thursdays, 10 am- 1pm.
- Clothing Closet Hours:
Tuesday and Thursday, 10 am – 1 pm
**Please note that due to the busy nature of the Clothing Closet, clients must plan to arrive before 12:30 pm to ensure service.
- Price: Free of charge, based on availability. Clients can obtain clothing once per month.
- Requirements: Identification. Additionally, Persons seeking professional clothing must have a referral from an agency familiar with their employment search
Additionally, The Cathedral’s Nutrition, Health, and Clothing Center provides periodic health screenings for areas such as diabetes, hypertension, and mammogram per-screening, among other health issues. CCC hosts an annual health fair in the summertime, joining with other health providers to raise awareness on an abundance of health topics.
