Happy National Nurses Week!
In honor of National Nurses Week and National Nurses Day, we celebrate our nurses at Mount Sinai Morningside and recognize their vital role in health care delivery.
This year, the American Nurses Association’s theme for Nurses Week and Nurses Month is “Nurses Make a difference.” During the COVID-19 crisis, nurses across the globe resonate with the extraordinary role nurses have played in the victory of recovery and the defeat of death for many of our patients and colleagues. Now more than ever, we need to support and recognize nurses for their steadfast commitment to meeting the needs of patients and their communities every day.
2020 was deemed “The Year of the Nurse,” in recognition of the 200th anniversary of Florence Nightingale’s birthday, a social reformer and the founder of modern nursing. This year, ANA is extending the Year of the Nurse into 2021 because of the impact of the pandemic. 2020 has indeed been “The Year of the Nurse” in a way we did not anticipate, and in 2021, our nurses have continued to exemplify why the Year of the Nurse is a recognition that deserves to be continued—even to a time that is beyond the COVID-19 pandemic.
It goes without saying—the nurses at Mount Sinai Morningside continue to astound us. You have made us so proud. You have made your patients and your communities proud—you have made the world proud.
On behalf of your colleagues, your patients, and leadership from around the Mount Sinai Health System: Thank you. ♥️👏
