Celebrating a Landmark Southern Educator – and TC Hero

The first black woman to earn an Education Ph.D. in the United States, Jane Ellen McAllister (Ph.D. 1929) will be posthumously honored this weekend by her hometown of Vicksburg, Mississippi, with a plaque celebrating her many accomplishments and a proclamation from TC President Thomas Bailey in recognition of the “Teachers College hero who embodied the College’s values, beliefs and aspirations.” #TCAlumni
