“How to Empower and ‘Un-Other’ Yourself?”

“Opening up and speaking up, and having a voice, and telling my story helped me heal and ‘un-other’ myself.” On 11/7, Amra Sabic-El-Rayess — a survivor of violence and religious persecution during the ethnic cleansing of Muslims in Bosnia during the 1990s — will deliver the inaugural Charo Uceda Women’s Empowerment Lecture.

Sharing her story of survival and experiences as a first-generation immigrant in the United States, Sabic-El-Rayes’ address will be followed by a discussion with Columbia Journalism School’s Jane Eisner. Register: https://www.tc.columbia.edu/uceda/
