In “Sight Beyond Words: A ‘Home-Stay’ Community,” TC doctoral student Bing Bai (@bingbaistudio, Art Education) wanted to offer a glimpse into the world of her friends and family in China during the early days of COVID-19. To share their experiences, Bai asked them each to photograph the view beyond their window. “Those shots have recorded people’s eagerness for nature, lives, others in the way of sharing and connecting. In this way, they were making an effort together to overcome the pandemic, looking forward with optimism.”

Only on display at @macyartgallerytc for just a few weeks before a pandemic was officially declared, “Sight Beyond Words” takes on additional meaning one year later. “Comparing life here and China’s situation one year before, I realized that the home-stay community is all over the world, and we really need unity to overcome the pandemic with everyone’s effort. Thinking in this way, staying home is not that bad anymore.” #ComeTogetherTC
