Bank Street Joins Effort to Prepare 100,000 STEM Teachers

On February 13, 100Kin10, a multi-sector partnership addressing the national imperative to prepare 100,000 science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) teachers by 2021, announced that Bank Street College of Education has been accepted as a partner.
“Joining 100Kin10 solidifies Bank Street’s commitment to preparing early childhood and childhood teachers who can develop math and science competency in children,” said Virginia Roach, Dean of Bank Street Graduate School of Education.

“But more importantly, we are preparing teachers to excite and engage their students in the STEM fields—putting them on important education trajectories. Our teachers will plant the seeds for future scientists, mathematicians, and engineers well into the 21st century.”

As part of its partnership with 100Kin10, Bank Street has committed to a 100% increase in the College’s existing contribution to preparing exemplary STEM educators by 2018.
