Child Life Alums Elected to Leadership Positions on the Child Life Council

Two Bank Street Child Life Alums have been elected to leadership positions on the Child Life Council, the governing body for the Child Life profession. Amy Bullock (’02) has been elected to the position of President-Elect and Kate (Currier) Shamszad (’05) has been elected to the Board of Directors.

Amy Bullock, MSEd, CCLSAmy Bullock is currently the Director of the Chase Child Life Program at Mattel Children’s Hospital UCLA, where she is responsible for an annual budget of $1.5 million and a staff of 18 child life specialists, 3 creative arts professionals and 2 teachers. In her role as director, she maintains overall responsibility for staff performance and objectives, oversees the child life internship and practicum programs, liaises with hospital leadership, and engages in grant writing and fundraising activities to maintain funds for the program. She serves in leadership roles on a number of advisory groups within Mattel Children’s, including the Patient- and Family-Centered Advisory Committee, the Pediatric Parent Advisory Council, and the Pediatric Environment Committee. Prior to working for Mattel Children’s Hospital UCLA, Amy was the Director of Square One, a public-private collaborative partnership on early care and education. She also worked as a Child Life Educator and Outreach Coordinator for University Children’s Hospital at UCI Medical Center in Orange, California from 2004 to 2006. Amy received a Bachelor of Science degree in Apparel Design from Virginia Tech, and a Master of Science degree in Education from Bank Street College of Education.
