The Career Services Office has had a busy spring semester!

On Friday, January 27th, over 75 students and alum attended our annual Job Search and Support Day. Resume Writing Workshops were held at the beginning and at the end of the event to accommodate the hectic schedules of our students and alum. Alexis Wright, Dean of the SFC, Gil Schmerler, Director of the Leadership for Educational Change Program, and school leaders and co-authors of How to Get the Teaching Job You Want, Dr. Robert Feirsen and Dr. Seth Weitzman graciously led these workshops. Ann Cox, conducted an information session on NYS certification, followed by Lonnie Saunderson, Recruitment Manager, Office of Teacher Recruitment & Quality at the Department of Education who provided detailed information on working in the NYC public schools. Finally, a panel of experienced school leaders and current students shared their expertise on the job search process.
Career Services hosted two well-attended job fairs for the first time this year! Thursday, March 1st was the Independent Schools Job Fair, and Wednesday, March 7th was the Public and Charter Schools Job Fair. Both events took place from 5:30-7:00 pm, and all students and alum were welcome to attend. The job fairs are a wonderful opportunity for students and alum to connect with school leaders and learn about job opportunities. Students reported that with more “breathing space” and shorter lines, they were able to connect with more schools than in past years.
The NYS Association of Independent Schools also hosted their annual Job Fair to Promote Diversity on Saturday, March 10 from
