MAA Collab Grants

In 2022 and 2023, Morningside Area Alliance (“MAA”) offered grants to faculty and staff undertaking community-building projects. Ten grants were made to applicants with affiliations shown below. MAA’s leadership wanted to directly contribute to collaborations and to support individuals who engaged neighbors and the larger community. MAA’s grant offering, “MAA Collab Grants,” were announced through the organization’s newsletter, and through direct outreach by MAA’s executive director and board of directors. Resulting projects were rooted in numerous fields of study, including media content creation, Morningside Heights reuse pilot, voice training and arts instruction, and an exhibit about student-led volunteerism. MAA was thrilled to donate a sum of $21,500 to these projects, share the projects among its board of directors and on MAA’s website, and to become a named sponsor of the resulting programs. As part of MAA’s activities, the MAA Collab Grants broadened its network. An estimated 7070 people – neighbors, students, and guests – took part in the projects. We thank all of the applicants and project collaborators on allowing us to be a part of your remarkable work!
