Dear Students,Throughout the year, it is always a privilege and pleasure when I have the opportunity to meet with students. From the monthly chats organized through the Office of Graduate Student Life & Development, to the impromptu conversations that take place as I walk the halls, I am inspired by your stories, what has brought you to Teachers College, your experiences with our faculty and the community you have built here.As we launch National Graduate & Professional Student Appreciation Week, I want to take a moment to recognize our students, and express how much we value the diverse perspectives, talents and backgrounds with which you enrich our community. You are indeed the heart of Teachers College, and we are so grateful that you have chosen TC for your educational journey. I hope you will find time this week to participate in some of the events hosted by Graduate Student Life & Development, including the Annual Student Research Competition, free giveaways in Everett Lounge (Monday through Thursday, 4 – 6 p.m.) and Headshots & Hors d’oeuvres hosted by TC NEXT. The full schedule can be found here. And special thanks to student Ther Largo for designing this year’s celebratory T-shirt!I also encourage you to nominate a student, student group or student-led event for a Provost’s Student Excellence Award. Submissions are accepted until the end of today, April 1.Again, my thanks to you for the vital role you play in the life of Teachers College. You are helping us to achieve our mission of building a smarter, healthier, more just and equitable world. I hope this week provides you with unique opportunities to celebrate your achievements, and engage and connect with your peers.Warmly,Thomas BaileyPresidentTeachers College, Columbia University
