In a lengthy New York Magazine profile of The Metropolitan Opera General Manager Peter Gelb (HonDMA ’19), under “Gelb’s Hits,” the magazine lists two operas – Akhnaten (2019) and Fire Shut Up in My Bones (2021). In both cases, the MSM pedigree is strong: the former featured MSM alumnus and trustee Anthony Roth Costanzo (MM ’08) and alumna J’Nai Bridges, Mezzo-Soprano (BM ’09) in the title role and as Queen Nefertiti, respectively (see picture); the latter included several MSM alumni in its cast and was composed by MSM trustee Terence Blanchard (HonDMA ’17). #msmatthemet
