Last month, Professor Jonathan Milgram spoke at the “Editions of Classical Jewish Literature in the Digital Era” conference, sponsored by the University Of Haifa. The conference brought together scholars from all over the world to discuss issues surrounding the digitization of classical rabbinic literature (Mishnah and Talmud).
Professor Milgram’s lecture was entitled, “Between Memra and Stam: On Memory in the Transmission of Statements in the Babylonian Talmud.” He highlighted what technologies are available, and still must be created, for the effective search of statements in different versions of the Talmud available in medieval manuscripts.
