Most of the nearly 23,000 children who call a New York City shelter “home” are school age, and one of the most devastating consequences of homelessness is the impact it has on their education.
Last year, we at the Interchurch Center joined hundreds of partners and thousands of individual donors and volunteers. Thanks to our generosity all 19,000 school children living in NYC’s homeless and domestic violence shelters began their school year with a new backpack full of every grade-specific supply they could possibly need. We couldn’t have done it without you!
The success of Operation Backpack® is 100% dependent on support from the community. This year we anticipate requests for close to 20,000 backpacks and hope you will help us meet the need.
🎒 Donations can be dropped off weekdays,
9AM – 4PM in Suite 240 until August 3, 2017.
