Calling it “fresh and affecting,” The New York Times reviews ‘Fire Shut Up in My Bones,’ which recently opened the The Metropolitan Opera 2021-2022 season. The production, composed by MSM trustee and award-winning jazz musician and composer Terence Blanchard, (HonDMA ’19) reopened the Met after an 18-month closure and represents the first time the company has performed an opera by a Black composer.
