Voice & Choice: Civic Education the Early Grades (A Pre-Recorded Event)
New York State Regent Fran Wills will join a panel of educators and students in a special event on best practices for early civic learning, moderated by Rashid Duroseau of Democracy Prep Public Schools.
Note: This is a pre-recorded event that will be published on Friday, March 15th at 4pm.
How can educators help our (K-6) youngest citizens, who are inherently passionate about justice, liberty and happiness, create a foundation of civic-mindedness?
School civics director Rashid Duroseau will guide this pre-recorded webinar featuring educators: NYS regent Fran Wills, elementary school principal Chelsey Palmer, 4th grade teacher, Gail Sider, K-6 civics advocate, DK Holland, and neuroscientist Elizabeth Waters as they deliberate ways to incorporate civics into the lives of children in their schools. Five young students – from kindergarten to high school – will help adults throughout understand how they, as kids, can best develop their civic values and grow as independent, critical thinkers.
