Zanny’s Cafe

Zannys specializes in gourmet sandwiches and wraps. All hand-made and made to order. Our coffee comes from the oldest roaster in NYC: Dallis Brothers from Brooklyn. Our espresso is Danesi and is roasted in Italy. Our hot chocolate is made from real milk and dark chocolate wafers steamed to perfection. History Established in 2000. March of 2002, after a meeting at a Thai restaurant at 49th and 9th, James and John decided to purchase Zanny's Cafe from Koteen. Their partership clicked. They pooled their funds. Soon after, Kandel and Lee formed J & J Java, Inc. to continue developing Zanny's Cafe where Susannah had left off. Kuro Kuma

This petite, eight-seat specialty coffeeshop in Morningside Heights peddles Counter Culture beans, espresso shots pulled from a gleaming La Marzocco machine and Balthazar croissants and scones. The restored cherrywood floors and a wall of sky-blue tiles behind the counter make for a serene, Zen-like room, which is no fluke—the shop's name is Japanese for "black bear," an homage to nearby Sakura Park, a Japanese cherry-blossom garden.
