Some come here to work on their school projects, others for coffee on the way to work, and more still to use our cafe as a platform for expression, where people of all kinds are invited to tell their stories to a receptive audience. Morningside's Bakery Pick: La Toulousaine is the first original French Boulangerie to launch in the Morningside Heights area and is famous in the neighborhood for its fresh pastries and delicious breads. The French bakery sells indulgent treats such as croissaints, macarons, tartes, and cakes. Jean-François Gatorze and his wife Nora Salazar opened La Toulousaine in January 2012. Jean-François is a French Pastry Chef who was raised in a Bakers Family in the region of Toulouse (South of France). He came to New York to continue the original french pâtissier methods of his father and grandfather.
