#TBT: Showing gratitude on this Thanksgiving Day for MSM’s founder, Janet Daniels Schenck, whose guidance and vision helped the School become the international conservatory it is today. Born on November 22, 1883, Schenck studied piano in Paris with Harold Bauer, earned a degree in social work, and taught music at the Union Settlement on East 104th Street before founding Manhattan School of Music and serving as its director until her retirement in 1956. Dr. Schenck passed away in 1976, at age 93.
