The Dominican Community in New York City prides itself on remaining connected with the social and political life of the island; however, this focus weakens their active participation and presence in USA/NYS public life. This event aims to engage the Latinx/Dominican community in discussing the importance of participation in the US political process without forgetting their homeland. Marino Zapete, a well-known Dominican journalist, and Arelis Figueroa from the NYS Poor People’s Campaign will engage the audience in this important discussion.
