The John Lindenbaum Memorial Lecture Series – “Can HIV Transform Global Health?”

Over the past four decades, remarkable progress has been made in confronting the global HIV epidemic, with notable decreases in mortality and the number of new infections. Countries once ravaged by HIV have been some of the first to reach global targets for the HIV response – an astounding feat. These gains are the result of pioneering efforts that over time have transformed the face of health delivery systems. Yet, the threat of non-communicable diseases looms large and the HIV epidemic has not been vanquished. The talk will explore how this public health triumph was achieved and the lessons that can be applied to other global health threats and to sustaining the momentum towards HIV epidemic control.
