What is a Seven Last Words Service? Worship services on Good Friday traditionally include the seven last words of Jesus from the cross. Many churches choose seven speakers to offer reflections on these words The service typically ends in darkness and silence as the Christ Candle is extinguished. No single Gospel contains all seven words, rather they are a combination of texts taken from the four canonical Gospels. These words show us Jesus’s final acts of care, intercession, and pardon. They also show us His human nature and ultimate trust in God.

WORSHIP RESOURCES:

Our Good Friday service will invite us to several embodied practices as part of the meditations. In preparation for this service, congregants attending online will need the following materials:

• a pen or pencil
• a blank sheet of paper
• two (2) beads or buttons
• a candle and a match or lighter

ENTRANCES: There are two entrances to the church. You can enter the church at 490 Riverside Drive. Wheelchair accessibility is available at 91 Claremont Avenue. Ask the security desk for directions to our Nave (sanctuary).
