Join Boricuas Unidos en la Diáspora (BUDPR) for an evening of conversation and community-building in New York City, as we discuss Puerto Rico’s ongoing struggles as a U.S. colony and how we can support our people on the island from NYC and the broader diaspora. June 12, 2025 Starting at 5pm, we’ll be enjoying food and drinks at La Fonda Boricua. At 7pm, we’ll host a panel featuring: Ed Morales – Journalist and author of Fantasy Island: Colonialism, Exploitation, and the Betrayal of Puerto Rico Jasmin Sánchez – Candidate for District Leader in the 74th Assembly District and leader of Movimiento Victoria Ciudadana in the diaspora BUDPR Leaders Damara González and Calvin Yohannan – Activists who lead our organization’s work in New York City and nationally as we educate and advocate for Puerto Rico’s decolonization and sovereignty The panel is free and open to the public! We’ll be offering a Medalla beer to attendees who give a $5 donation, and we encourage our guests to enjoy the fantastic food and drink at La Fonda!
