4th Annual Jackie Robinson Day Festival
You are cordially invited to the 4th Annual Jackie Robinson Day Festival on April 12 in Jackie Robinson Park from 12 – 4 pm. This annual event brings the community together as we commemorate the legacy of the famed baseball player and the 78th anniversary of his breaking the color barrier in the major leagues.
The day will kick off with a volunteer project from 10am-12pm in which participants will help mulch, plant and beautify the park. At noon, the festival opens up to the public at the bandshell, Bradhurst Avenue and W. 148th Street, with jumbo games, a full line-up of performances and tabling from various Harlem-based community organizations.
Along Bradhurst Avenue from W. 150th -154th Streets, people will be playing various sports, including basketball, baseball, track and field, flag football and pickleball, in honor of the fact that at UCLA in 1939, a young Jackie Robinson became the first Bruin to earn varsity letters in four sports: baseball, basketball, football and track.
