About the Championships
Begun in 1998, The American Lindy Hop Championships was chronicled in Life Magazine. Since that time it has been a proving ground for most of America’s top Lindy Hop dancers, teachers and judges landing them all over the world from Asia to Europe and back again. Recent and contemporary social dances like Chicago Step, DC Hand Dance, the Bop, Texas Swingout, Urban Ballroom and West Coast Swing all grew out of Lindy Hop. Swing dancers number in the millions. It is still a worldwide craze.
