AMISTAD Opera composed by Anthony Davis
Harlem Opera Theater in partnership with the Connecticut Lyric Opera will present AMISTAD, an opera, composed by Anthony Davis, Pulitzer Prize Winner. This special preview showcases the evocative story of the 1839 Amistad Uprising, a historic slave rebellion that led to a landmark U.S. Supreme Court decision affirming the rights of enslaved individuals. The opera preview will be followed by a conversation with the patrons of the arts. The presentation is free and open to the public. Donations welcome.
