Boko Haram Captivity: 11 Years Too Long! Rescue our Chibok Girls
Join us on April 14, 2025, from 1-4 PM to commemorate the 11th anniversary of the abduction of the Chibok Girls by Boko Haram. This event highlights the ongoing struggle for the nearly 100 girls still in captivity, alongside thousands of other women and children affected by conflict in Nigeria. Through a panel discussion with scholars and activists, we will explore the experiences of girls and women in conflict, the impact of the Chibok abduction, and the stories of those rescued and still held captive. Prayers for the families of the Chibok girls will also be offered during the program.
A special screening of Daughters of Chibok, directed by Kachi Benson, a Nigerian filmmaker whose work highlights the social impact of these stories, will follow. The screening will be accompanied by a roundtable discussion with the filmmaker, scholars, and experts, focusing on the ongoing tragedy and the resilience and unwavering strength of the Chibok girls and their families.
This event, themed “Beyond Chibok: Centering Survivors’ Voices and Understanding What More Needs to Be Done,” is more than just a commemoration—it’s a call to action. Your participation will be a vital step toward creating the change we urgently need.
Through the lens of this film, we will explore the broader security implications of the abductions, the evolving threats to women and girls in Northeast Nigeria and globally, and the urgent need for actionable strategies to bring about real change. The roundtable discussion will challenge us to ask: What can we do? It will push us to consider what more needs to be done to rescue the remaining victims, ensure recovery, and secure long-term peace for affected communities.
