Film Screening and Fundraiser: Decade of Fire
Join Harlem comrades for a film screening of the documentary, Decade of Fire: Stay – Fight – Build, to help us raise funds for a family currently displaced by the Allerton Bronx fire. Hosted at Cafe Melo Harlem. @cafemeloharlem
The film highlights the effects of rampant fires in the South Bronx in the 1970’s and the blame placed on the Black and Puerto Rican residents most affected by the devastation.
After the screening, we will hear from Vivian Vázquez Irizarry, the co-producer of the film. Let’s discuss how to support our neighbors and oppose the dangerous living conditions perpetuated by neglectful landlords.
MASKS ARE REQUIRED. With ongoing cases of COVID still hospitalizing and disabling people and bird flu on the first, we ask that folks wear masks so we can all keep each other safe. Masks will also be provided for those without.
