Fostering Leadership in Latin American Education

The Latinx and Latin American Faculty Working Group’s first event of the year – Fostering Leadership in Latin American Education: Dialogue between Andrés Sáenz Peñas and Michael C. Johanek – will take place on Monday, October 21 from 5-7 PM in Grace Dodge Hall (GDH) 179. The event will include presentations from Andrés Sáenz Peñas, Obama Foundation Scholar and Co-Founder and Executive Director of CIVIX Colombia, and Michael C. Johanek, Visiting Scholar at Teachers College and Director of the Inter-American Educational Leadership Network (Red Interamericana de Liderazgo Educacional, RILE), the Educational Leadership Simulations Program (ELS), and The Judgment Project.

Given that both speakers lead organizations supporting educational leaders in Latin America, we’re excited to hear their presentations and perspectives on how they can meet the social and educational needs of students and teachers in the region. Each speaker will briefly present on their organization’s work and then engage in a discussion, followed by a Q&A session with attendees. Following the event, we’ll have a reception with light refreshments. The event will be co-sponsored by the working group, the Peace Education Network (PEN), the Coalition of Latinx Scholars (CLS), and the Association of Latin American Students (ALAS).
