Global Reproductive Rights & Resistance in Context: A Community-Wide Workshop with Kadambari Baxi, Cecelia Lie-Spahn, and Wendy Schor-Haim

The Year of Elections around the World event series will kick off on October 17 from 4:15-6:15pm with a community-wide workshop on reproductive rights and resistance. Showcasing faculty experts in reproductive rights and justice, including Kadambari Baxi (Architecture) and her forthcoming “Trigger Planting” exhibition at the Milstein Center, Wendy Schor-Haim (FYW & English) and Cecelia Lie-Spahn (FYW & English) and their 2024 “Abortion in Context” American Studies course, and Elizabeth Ananat (Economics) and her scholarship on poverty and reproduction, this event will explore the key terms and concepts in the discourse on reproductive rights from a variety of disciplinary perspectives and political contexts.

After “flash” presentations from our faculty presenters, participants will engage with key terms in the debate and discuss their implications for local and global politics and connections to their own lives, studies, or research. This collaborative session aims to foster interdisciplinary discussions and provide a platform for the Barnard community to reflect on one of the key contested issues in local and global elections this year.
