Artist Romare Bearden grew up in Harlem and depicted in his art much of the neighborhood’s communal spirit. Join the Harlem resident and historian John T. Reddick in an informative exploration of Bearden’s work as reflected through sites and stories that influenced life and art.

Traverse one of Harlem’s unique streets, from its Riverside Drive view high above the Hudson River to flats of Harlem were it was the initial hub of the neighborhood’s African American identity. History and highlights on one of America’s first movie theaters, the Croton Aqueduct’s Gatehouse, City College, the childhood school of jazz saxophonist Sonny Rollins and artist Faith Ringgold, jazz spot Small’s Paradise, Harlem Hospital and more!
