BIOGRAPHY
Percussionist Steven Kroon has built a distinguished 50-year career performing and recording with music’s elite. Born in Harlem and raised in Queens, he absorbed Latin rhythms and Jazz legends from an early age, studying with masters Tommy Lopez Sr. and Dom Um Romao.
Kroon’s career includes performing with Luther Vandross for two decades, touring the world, appearing on major television programs, and recording with icons including Aretha Franklin, Diana Krall, Bette Midler, Tony Bennett, and Lady Gaga. He also toured extensively with jazz legend Ron Carter, performing at the Village Vanguard, Iridium, and Blue Note clubs worldwide. Recognized as a DownBeat Critics Poll Rising Star in 2016 and 2017, Kroon blends Latin, Jazz, and world rhythms with distinctive mastery.
Over the past 15 years, he has released six solo albums on his label, Kroonatune Records, continuing to share his dynamic percussion artistry with audiences globally.
