Supporting Neurodivergence in the Workplace (Hybrid)

Join us on Tuesday, October 15th, 2024 from 12:00pm to 1:00pm for a workshop entitled: Supporting Neurodivergence in the Workplace.  This event will be hybrid, taking place virtually and at the Hammer Health Sciences Center in room HSC 305.

Neurodiversity represents a shift from a “medical/mental health” definition that focuses on disorders and impairments to a “social” definition about accepting the whole person and attempting to tap into the unique capabilities/talents of neurodivergent employees. This shift in perspective can have a positive impact on how neurodivergent employees feel supported and valued at work and in how they are seen by their neurotypical peers.

This event will feature a concise introduction to neurodiversity, exploring what it is, how it manifests in the workplace, and how CUIMC supports neurodivergent employees. The session will include a moderated discussion followed by an audience Q&A.

During this event you will also have the opportunity to learn more about Project PossABILITY which is a university-wide hiring initiative that works with people with developmental disabilities who want assistance to reach their employment goals.  Our goal is to match people with autism and other developmental disabilities with the needs of our CUIMC hiring managers.

All Columbia affiliates are welcome to attend.

This event is sponsored by CUIMC’s Disability Employee Resource Group.
