Join us in person on Monday, February 10, 2025 at 10:30AM ET for the next installment of Columbia Engineering’s Tech CEO Lecture Series with Dean Kamen as he presents, “DEKA Research & Development: Evolved Thinking.” Dean has developed several significant technologies, including the HomeChoice portable dialysis machine, the iBOT Mobility System, the Segway Human Transporter, and a DARPA-funded robotic arm.

ABOUT THE SPEAKER

Dean Kamen is an inventor, entrepreneur, and tireless advocate for science and technology. As the founder and president of DEKA Research & Development Corporation, he has developed transformative innovations, including the HomeChoice portable dialysis machine, the iBOT Mobility System, the Segway Human Transporter, a DARPA-funded robotic arm, and an advanced Stirling engine. Dean also serves as Executive Director and Chairman of the Board of the Advanced Regenerative Manufacturing Institute (ARMI) / BioFabUSA, where he applies engineering and manufacturing expertise to the field of biology.

One of Dean’s proudest accomplishments is founding FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology), an organization dedicated to inspiring the next generation to understand, engage with, and enjoy science and technology. Dean later expanded this initiative to create FIRST Global, which has grown to include teams from over 190 countries, culminating in its most recent competition in Athens, Greece.
