Join us for an online conversation and Q&A in English and Spanish hosted by writer and scholar, Dr. Vanessa Valdés with composer, Sergio Reyes and choreographer, Javier Dzul about the inspiration behind the creation of their latest work, Mayan Resilience, commissioned by The Harlem Chamber Players.
Listen as this conversation connects to share insights on the intersection of Mesoamerican politics, art, cosmogony, and beyond through a historical and contemporary lens of Mayan and indigenous identity. Bring your own questions for a brief Q&A session to follow.
The world premiere of Mayan Resilience by Sergio Reyes with choreography by Javier Dzul and the Dzul Dance Company will take place on Thursday, April 24, 2025 at 7 PM. This concert, featuring all world premieres by Latin composers, will be presented in collaboration with City College Center for the Arts and the Association of Dominican Classical Artists.
