Young Children, Spirituality, and the Arts

Young Children, Spirituality, and the Arts is an interactive workshop exploring unique ways that artistic expression facilitates the discovery and articulation of children’s spirituality and their inner spiritual words. Workshop activities include exploration through music, dance, poetry, drama, and visual arts. Young Children, Spirituality, and the Arts is organized by Spirituality at TC, a student organization of Teachers College.

7:00 to 7:30 pm: Food and refreshments

7:30 to 8:30 pm: The workship will begin promptly at 7:30 pm.


About Meryl Sole:

Dr. Meryl Sole, Ed. D. teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in music education at New York University and Teachers College, Columbia University. She is an active researcher who focuses on the musical lives of toddlers, musical parenting, and popular music education. She has co-authored two books, Knowing the Children We Teach: Essays on Music Learning (2023) and Seeking the Mystical Child: Nurturing Young Children’s Identity, Faith, and Belief (in press).

Spirituality at TC is a student organization of Teachers College. The organization’s mission is to create a nurturing and supportive space where the students and the wider TC/Columbia community can learn about the Spirit-Mind-Body connection and deepen their spiritual paths together. Spirituality at TC is unique as it embodies a holistic approach that combines various ancient spiritual concepts with modern science in education and practice for diverse communities related to mental, physical, and spiritual wellness.
