Solomon seized the throne of Israel during a period of political turmoil. Within a short period of time, he proved to be a powerful, wise, and just ruler. He organized the national government and made the necessary preparations for his crowning achievement, the Temple in Jerusalem. In nine live online sessions, we will read 1 Kings 1–5, focusing on the most difficult words and exploring multiple options for translation and interpretation. Participants are encouraged to create their own translations and research new topics about this striking, positive portrayal of King Solomon.
Sessions will be recorded, and recordings will be shared with registered participants.
Prerequisite: Completion of Biblical Hebrew I, II, and III. If you have not taken these courses but believe you have the equivalent background, please schedule a conversation with the instructor prior to enrollment.
Cost: $415. (Limited financial assistance available)
